How ARC Raiders Damage Mechanics Work

ARC Raiders features a punishing combat sandbox where split-second decisions and loadout optimization dictate your survival in the extraction zone. The damage model is not just a simple subtractive health pool system; it dynamically layers ammunition penetration values against tiered body armor mechanics and innate ARC machine damage resistance.

When you fire a weapon in ARC Raiders, the raw damage number listed in the armory is merely the baseline. The true damage inflicted is immediately modified by your engagement distance. The game employs a tiered range drop-off system (Close, Medium, Long) where a Battle Rifle that deals 40 damage at 15 meters might decay to just 30 damage at 45 meters. Our damage engine models this exact falloff curve, ensuring you know your effective Time-To-Kill (TTK) regardless of where the engagement takes place.

Furthermore, player accuracy heavily shifts DPS. Hitting weakpoints on ARC machines (such as the glowing vents on a Sentinel or the articulated joints on a Roller) applies a massive damage multiplier. Conversely, in PvP combat against other Raiders, headshots are the primary critical multiplier. The calculator simulates mixed-accuracy encounters using our Monte Carlo variance engine to find your authentic TTK.

Best Loadouts and Meta Builds

1

PvE Farming Builds

Focus on sustained DPS and high magazine counts to deal with swarms of swarmers and rollers. High weakpoint multiplier weapons excel against bosses.

2

PvP Extraction Meta

Burst DPS and high armor penetration are king. The AKM and select Battle Rifles dominate the 20-40 meter bracket due to superior ttk through helmets.

3

Effective vs Raw TTK

Raw TTK assumes 100% accuracy and zero armor. Effective TTK factors in your selected headshot/weakpoint ratios, armor mitigation, and range decay.

4

Monte Carlo Variance

Weapon recoil introduces missed shots. The Monte Carlo simulation runs 1000 variations of your firefight to show the 95% confidence interval of your TTK.

Armor Mechanics and Penetration Explained

The most defining feature of ARC Raiders combat is its complex armor system. Armor behaves as both damage mitigation software and a destructible health pool. An opponent wearing Tier 3 Heavy Armor possesses high base durability and flat damage reduction. If your weapon's innate armor penetration value is lower than the target's armor rating, a significant percentage of your damage is absorbed by the armor's durability pool before health damage occurs.

This means weapon choice is highly situational. A high-RPM submachine gun might shred a lightly armored runner ARC or an unarmored player with terrifying speed (low TTK), but if that same SMG is fired against a Tier 3 armored opponent, the low penetration value will cause the weapon to feel like it's shooting completely blank rounds. In these scenarios, higher-caliber Battle Rifles or Sniper Riflesβ€”which possess superior innate armor penetrationβ€”will punch through the mitigation layer and yield a much faster effective TTK.

Our simulator allows you to calculate exact "Armor Break Time." Knowing exactly how many milliseconds it takes for your AKM to shatter a Tier 2 vest allows you to plan your reloads and movement during intense PvPvE firefights.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this calculator simulate PvE and PvP differently?+
Yes. PvP focuses on player armor scaling and headshot multipliers, while PvE mode incorporates ARC machine specific damage resistances (Light/Med/Heavy/Boss) and innate weakpoint multipliers.
What is the highest DPS weapon in ARC Raiders?+
Raw DPS numbers often favor SMGs like the Stitcher, but Effective DPS through heavy armor strongly favors Battle Rifles like the Ferro and Aphelion.
How is the Monte Carlo Simulation calculated?+
To simulate realistic gameplay, the engine runs 1000 simulated firefights. It introduces accuracy variance (missed shots) based on the weapon's recoil rating and your baseline skill spread, returning the Average, Best, and Worst possible TTK.
Does distance matter in ARC Raiders?+
Absolutely. Every weapon has Close, Medium, and Long range profiles. Engaging enemies outside your weapon's optimal range drastically increases your TTK. Use the distance slider to see the exact falloff penalty.

Methodology & Data Integrity

All calculations are based on verified data extracted from ARC Raiders Patch Beta 1.0 game files. We cross-reference values with in-game testing to ensure 99.9% accuracy for competitive play.

⚑ Patch History and Weapon Balance

In the recent beta cycles, Embark Studios has continuously adjusted recoil stability ratings, movement speed penalties, and base damage of automatic weapons to prevent the Assault Rifle class from dominating both close and long-range encounters.

This calculator is continuously updated with the latest datamined and verified patch changes to keep your build planning perfectly accurate.
