PUBG Patch 28.2: The Dragunov Nerf and DMR Meta Shift

The End of the One-Tap DMR Meta?

For months, the Dragunov has dominated the PUBG mid-to-high level meta with its ability to one-tap Level 2 helmets. Patch 28.2 finally introduces the balance changes the competitive community has been asking for. Dragunov Damage Calibration

The base damage of the Dragunov has been reduced by 5%, specifically targeting the 50m-150m range bracket. In practical terms, this means that against a full-health opponent with a Level 2 Helmet, the Dragunov now requires a secondary hit to the neck or upper chest if the primary headshot is slightly off-center. This brings its TTK more in line with the SLR while maintaining its high-risk, high-reward identity.

The Mini-14 vs. Mk12 Consistency

While the heavy DMRs saw nerfs, the 5.56 DMRs remain largely untouched, widening the gap in "Spamability." The Mini-14 continues to be the king of velocity, making it superior for targets moving at high speeds in vehicles. However, the Mk12 still holds the advantage in prone stability. For players who value consistency over raw power, the 5.56 meta has never looked stronger.

Attachment Optimization: The New Compensator Buff

Patch 28.2 also silent-buffed the horizontal recoil reduction on the Compensator for DMRs by 3%. This might seem minor, but when paired with the Dragunov's new recoil recovery time, it becomes an essential attachment to maintain a competitive rate of fire.
